OUR ACCESSIBILITY OBJECTIVE

Accessibility is an ongoing commitment. This statement does not claim that every page, export or third-party feature has passed a complete independent WCAG audit.
01

OUR COMMITMENT

Our commitment

Harvard Reference Generator is intended to be usable by students, researchers, lecturers and professional writers with different devices, access needs and levels of technical experience.

We aim to design and maintain the Harvard citation generator, in-text citation forms, university guides, reference-list tools and downloadable content in line with recognised accessibility principles and to work towards the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, WCAG 2.2 Level AA.

02

DESIGN GOALS

What we aim to support

Harvard Reference Generator aims to provide:

  • keyboard-accessible navigation and controls;
  • logical heading structures;
  • clear form labels and instructions;
  • understandable validation and error messages;
  • visible keyboard focus;
  • sufficient text and interface contrast;
  • zoom and text resizing without loss of essential content;
  • meaningful link text;
  • alternatives for meaningful images;
  • content that does not rely only on colour, position or shape;
  • reduced unnecessary motion;
  • usable citation forms on mobile and desktop devices; and
  • readable Word, PDF and text exports where technically possible.

KNOWN REVIEW AREAS

Areas under continuing review

Accessibility work is continuing across long citation forms, autocomplete and source-search controls, complex dropdown menus, interactive reference-list features, exported documents, cookie-consent controls and third-party embedded services.

Some third-party pages, social-media embeds, external documents and services are outside Harvard Reference Generator's direct control. We will choose more accessible options where reasonably possible and provide an alternative when a significant barrier is identified.

04 / FEEDBACK

Include the page URL, the problem encountered, the browser or assistive technology used, and the format or adjustment that would help.
